It's all in the kiss

How much fun can two bestfriends have together? A lot. How much fun can two bestfriends that are photography buddies have together at a photoshoot? WAY TOO MUCH.

I was able to take my bestfriend {and assistant photographer} Tressa's pictures. She wanted to get some pictures taken of her and her lover boy for their Christmas Cards. I've known Tressa since I can even remember and we're so similar that when she throws out an idea - I'm on it, and I know what she's trying to do. This time, Tressa actually printed out pictures and we copied them :] Poor Lawrence had to cooperate - it was 2 against 1 in this scenario! Some positions were a little awkward, but others just happened naturally that turned out fantastic!

One of my absolute favorite pictures is their sneak peek; which I'm not sure if we copied it, or it just happened. Who knows, either way - I love it.

For a sidenote, Tressa - when you do pictures of Nick and I, you're going to be my stylist! I loved your attire!

XOXO Love you!

Sweet Baby Girl

A couple of our good friends Jesse and Amanda just had a beautiful baby girl - Isabella Jean Anderson. She's just a tiny little sweet pea! I got to visit her in the hospital and sneak a few pictures of her when she was freshly born, and now a couple of weeks later, I was able to get some family shots!

First off, I wish my house was as warm as yours! It was a great fall day for pictures, and not too cold outside, but cold enough to keep the house warm. Hard to believe that in the middle of November, we can be ouside without a heavy jacket on.

Second, Let's just say that there were definitely some funny moments that happened today... one inparticular when Isabella was laying naked on the ground! Haha, Jesse and Amanda - you know what I'm laughing about :] Another was when we moved the shoot outside and Bailey {family dog} would just not sit. She would lay down or roll on her back, but couldn't sit perfectly for us - spread eagle was her position of choice :] Crazy enough, I got one of her sitting and looking at me. I must have caught her in a split second before she went into laying down.

I still have some more pictures that I want to get, but we'll figure out when works for us all again! Thanks for the fun this afternoon and here's your adorable little peanut!

Sidenote: Anyone who is interested, Jennifer Minick was the one who made the headband and tutu, if you're interested in purchasing one, please let me know and I can give you her information!

My Bestfriend

Geri Allen was My Bestfriend contest winner! She was able to choose any location, any type of session (besides wedding), and with whoever she wanted!

Geri chose to have a family session with her boyfriend and their 3 wonderful kids. The location was at a park down in the cities {I can't remember the name already!}. Everything went perfect! My sister came with me and assisted me, carrying things and helping get the kids to look at me. Thanks Dot!

The kids were absolutely great and behaved so well! In the middle of our shoot, we stopped for a treat. The first treat was a carmel apple, followed soon by a cupcake - YUM!

Geri and Josh, you guys have such a great family! My heart melted completely when Calvin told me how much fun he had - and that Lucy wanted to hold my hand when we were walking back to the car. Makes my job even that much better to think that even kids can have fun at photoshoots and it's not just fun for the parents! I hope you guys like your teaser, and thank you again! Congratulations on winning!

Trevor is a Senior!

Mr. Trevor is a senior! Sandie, Trevor, and I all met up in no other than Harris!

This kid cracked me up the entire time! We started out at the Harris barn and then made our way around town hitting up any spot that looked intriguing. Suprisingly, even though Harris is super tiny, there are so many potential spots for pictures. Right in a row are buildings with all different types of textures that make awesome backgrounds. Sidenote: I've always paid attention to that detail even though most people would probably overlook it.

We made it to the railroad tracks and I had Trevor jumping to try and warm up; because of course Sandie and I had him change into a short sleeve shirt when it was pretty cold outside! The comments and jokes he was making made my whole night. He is such a good guy and so sweet. Let's just say that he was a great model and had some great ideas!

On our way back to the barn, we stopped at a brick background where were able to get some shots of Trevor with his bowling shirt and bowling ball! They turned out awesome! Here are 2 of my favorite shots, enjoy!!

Pumpkin Baby?

My wonderful cousin-in-law Amber is expecting baby number 2, and asked me to do a mixture of family pictures and maternity pictures! Of course I said yes :]

Corey, Amber, and Jaiden are adorable together. 1 big happy family! Lots of laughs were had today - especially when Amber brought a pumpkin and Corey held it up to his stomach. Awesome! :] We started out at Amber's great-grandpas house and went through the woods to the private lake. Jaiden wasn't exactly feeling the whole "take pictures of us" idea, so it was on our way back through the woods after some pictures that I knew I got him warmed up. When I heard "take a picture of me up here" from him - he was in it for the long haul with me! He became a model instantly.

After we left great-grandpas house, we headed over to Dennis and Loncys farm to use the tin and chipped paint for backgrounds. Amber is one of the most prepared people, so she brought even more props for me! I LOVED that {thank you!}

Amber had brought her ultrasound of the baby {boy/girl?}. Got some great shots of the 3 before they become 4! Since this is only my second maternity shoot, they needed to be up for anything - and of course, they were. Amber is a trooper and laid in a pile that I'm pretty sure was covered completely in sticker bushes. Also, one of my most favorite things I started using as a prop is my chalk boards. I love that something you're thinking now will mean so much years down the road when your baby reads it and thinks about how much you already loved them.

I had such a great time Amber, Corey, and Jaiden. Thanks for everything!!

One lucky boy

I particularly was looking forward to tonights shoot.
1. I love the 3 people I took pictures of.
2. Logan is the most polite and smartest little boy ever!
3. I got to hang out of with one of my close friends.

I was SO excited to take Logan's pictures, not just because I got to hang out with a little cutie, but I got to see a friend that I don't see too often! I took Logan's 2 year old pictures last year and he was such a handsome sweetie back then, and now add another year on there! He's going to be such a heartbreaker when he gets older.

Another reason I love being around these guys... Logan is one of the luckiest little guys ever. Amber and Joe love him SO SO SO much. You guys are such great parents and are raising such an amazing young guy. I'm not going to say man yet because then I'll feel old.

We went to PineHaven for some great fall pictures - after a long hug between Amber and I {we don't see each other too often}, we started the pictures. When I take pictures with such close friends - it doesn't feel like I'm doing anything! Just hanging out with a friend following her child around, like usual. Logan was so polite saying "thank you" and "please" the entire time. Usually parents have to prompt their 3 year olds to do that... he just does it on his own! It was a little chilly, so jackets and hats were used a good amount of the time, but that didn't stop us from having fun. We headed everywhere! Even found a ship that they blow pumpkins up from. We snuck on the tractor drivers seat and got some pictures of Logan driving - busted after about 3 pictures. I got some absoultely precious pictures of the Sullivans and am anxiously awaiting to give them to you Amber! :] Here's the look, and 1 of my favorite pictures ever. Love you guys!! XOXO

A childs love

Growing up with 2 sisters and a brother - I was anxiously awaiting tonights shoot with the 4 siblings - ironically, 3 girls and a boy. Liz had emailed me secretly wanting to do a session with her siblings to surprise their mom for Christmas {seriously so sweet!}. I was excited right away when we had decided on the date, but it was a ways away! The day came and went as it was raining outside :/ I was completely bummed, but we rescheduled for 1 week later {today!}.

We started out at Fish Lake since the family loves going to the lake. Unfortunately, the dock was pulled in! :[ It didn't stop us from taking pictures on it though - I had all of them jump up and pose on it. Got to make the best of the situation right? At least the lake was still in the background!

After Fish Lake, we headed towards Dennis and Loncys farm. Seriously, perfect place - perfect family - perfect night. The sun was making the sky just a gorgeous color, I couldn't have asked for a better time! Now, since I know that with my siblings, we like to have fun - I figured these guys would too. To change things up from other shoots and make it "one of it's own", I decided that a ginny-sac race would be ideal! Everyone got on their marks... and went! We did it back and forth just a few times and I honestly love the pictures, expressions, and fun that was had by all {even me}.

It was so much fun meeting all of you guys, and I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Travis is a Senior!

I was asked to take senior pictures for Travis, and jumped on the chance! I've known Travis for a long time - he's one of my brothers friends and he grew up just down the road. It's hard to believe that he's a senior! Crazy how fast time flies.

Travis said he definitely wanted outdoorsy pictures - so we went to Taylors Falls down by the river and around on the rocks and caves. Yet again, another subject with gorgeous blue eyes! The night was perfect for a shoot outside. The sun was out shining on the river and it wasn't too cold. Regardless, I had a bad sniffles and was starting to get a bad headcold - sorry for all of the sniffling Travis!

As we were heading back towards the car, I found another spot that looked great! It was a little rock house thing - so we we got some fun shots of Travis with all of this baseball attire as well as his football attire too! On our way back home we stopped by a small cornfield since Travis wanted to get some shots in there! {cornfields are great for pictures} Sunset pictures in cornfields are even better! The sky was just gorgeous in the background! Here's a look for you guys into Travis' Senior Session! I hope you guys like it, and Good Luck in whatever you choose to do in the future Travis!

Birthday Boy

Noah is the sweetest little man and I was able to take his 1 year pictures! For round 1 of 2, we met up at PineHaven in Wyoming. Since it's right around Halloween that his birthday lands, I thought it would be great to have pumpkins and everything related all incorporated!

Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate, so we weren't able to get the entire shoot finished, so we rescheduled for another day.

I met Brittany, her mom, and her grandmother back in the spring time for pictures of Noah and just adore all of them! Such a great group of ladies with a handsome little guy - he sure is loved!! Noah has the biggest blue eyes and a smile that will melt your heart! Back in the spring, Noah wasn't walking yet - man has a lot changed in just a few short months! He was everywhere! More to come on Noah after his second shoot is finished, but first I want to share his sneak peek! Hope you like it Brittany!

Family Night!

How fun are family shoots? Lots of fun! I know I've talked about the Franconia Sculpture Garden before and how I love it, but I really do! So much, that I scheduled another session for the awesome Palomino Family there! The Palomino family is made up of 5 awesome people! Pamela, John, Dominic, Chevelle, and Tristan! Everyone of them has a HUGE heart and great smile!

I got there a little early to walk around and scope out some spots to pose my muses at! My favorite so far is the little fence of trees in a row. I love the colors of the bark - especially with a family dressed in black shirts. I love black and white pictures, but I was excited because I knew that would turn out great!

We traveled around everywhere there {which surprising that it's actually huge!}. We hit up lots of very different sculptures! Houses held up by strings, graffiti backgrounds, tunnels of purple wood, and lots more. Some of my absolute favorite pictures with the entire Palomino family were in front of the graffiti walls. Everyone posed SO perfectly for "their album cover" shot. I loved it! Everyone was very open and super sweet. You have such a great family Pam! Here's your tiny little teaser into the shoot, I hope you like it!

She said "I will!"

This morning I had the honor of meeting up with an amazing couple! Kyle and Jamie, and of course their little peanut!

We went over some wedding details {which only makes me EVEN more excited for your big day}! After talking with Jamie and Kyle and getting to know them a little bit, their personalities just drew me in. They're both hilarious and have this look for each other that is obviously extremely deep - lots of love between these two! A cup of coffee later {or in my case, smoothie}, we walked out the back door of the coffee to what would soon turn into my studio. We were in Forest Lake right next to Houle's Mill. I {love} this place! Barns with chipped paint, old rusted tin, and so much potential!

Jamie had given me some great ideas on what she had found as "examples" of pictures she liked. Well, they were right up my alley, and I tweaked some to make them my own. The couple absolutely LOVES baseball! Unfortunately, Kyle roots for the wrong team - the white sox. Jamie on the other hand rocks and cheers on the Twins! The couple both brought their jerseys and we were able to get some pictures with those, some of my favorite shots!

We got everything - some family shots, some engagement shots, and everything inbetween. Engagement shoots are some of my favorite because there's a certain look that a guy gives the girl when she's not looking, almost like he's thinking "I'm the luckiest guy in the world", it makes me almost want to just break down and cry because I'm so happy for the couple - but of course I don't! Nobody wants a bawling photographer, so I held it together. Thanks you guys for sitting down and booking me and Tressa for your wedding, and thank you again for being awesome! I can't wait for your wedding!

Thomas is a Senior!

Thomas is a Senior this year, and I was there to get his pictures!!

Thomas played on the baseball team with my brother, so I knew I had seen him before, but never had officially met - until today! I met up with Thomas and his mom Pam. Being that he loves Baseball, we decided to start out at the baseball field in North Branch.

Lots of memories for me going all the way back to when I was in High School were all coming back to me. I love that I get to reminisce the memories while capturing memories for someone else who will one day remember back to that moment. Couldn't have asked for a better night for pictures (For the most part, I've been very lucky this year!). The sun was a little bright for some shots out on the diamond, but we got some pictures in the dugout and then headed to a small patch of trees straight across the track field. After getting some pictures by the trees, leaves, and small shed, we headed back to the diamond with the sun just about setting. Perfect timing in my mind with how the shots turned out.

Great pictures and can't wait to show you guys! Here's your little teaser!

Janie is a Senior!

This afternoon I got to meet up with Janie, her sister, and her mom! We got some great Senior pictures!

We headed around the great 'ol town of Harris to some of my favorite spots. First stop: the barn. I love everything about this barn and especially when my gorgeous subjects have gorgeous eyes! The color in the wood brings out every beautiful color in everyone's eyes and I've never been disappointed getting headshots against it!

We had some great laughs at the barn and railroad tracks; then after we felt confident we used every outfit, got every angle - we headed to Fish Lake. Almost everyone loves water, but with sunsets combined? Now we're talking! Luckily the dock was still out, so we got some shots with Janie on the dock, and even in the water. Most people probably wouldn't realize all of the potential that any park has, but for some reason - my eye was caught in a new direction towards a small fence that would make for some great backgrounds! You're pictures will be up soon, I hope you like them!! It was a blast tonight with you 3 awesome ladies, thank you!

Country Sweetheart

After my morning shoot with the Meyers, I headed towards home and met up with my cousin-in-law Jenny! She brought out her SUPER cute daughter Olivia for some 3 year old pictures.

First off, Olivia is so stinkin adorable! Second, she loves pictures! Let's just say that those two things make for a great session. We headed out around Jenny's grandparents farm (which is such a great set up - thanks Dennis and Loncy!).

Jenny brought the golfcart and we loaded my stuff up, hopped on, and headed for the first round of shots. Olivia listened and posed so perfectly! It definitely shows in the pictures that she's going to be a model years down the road. Some of things that came out of her mouth that were too cute, this one seriously had me almost laughing because it was adorable: "Oh darn it" whenever we would hit a bump. I loved it!

After heading to a couple of barns, the fields, cornfields, and trees... we headed up to the last barn for some shots with Olivia and mom + a cupcake! What kid doesn't love a cupcake?

Overall the pictures turned out great! Olivia was a great model, so THANK YOU JENNY and of course Miss Olivia!

Osceola Beauties

This morning I hung out in Osceola with the beautiful Meyers Family!

My awesome cousin Caitlin came to help me out and tote around all my props. {thanks CJ!} It was a little chilly, but we still made our way around the super cute town. Carey and Bob have two adorable twins girls Jovie and Jaylee (how awesome are their names!).

The town has lots of potential for pictures, highly reccommend it if you're looking for somewhere to shoot! Buildings and parks with the ideal shots for some great family pictures. The girls were a little quiet, so I tried to sugar them up with some cupcakes. They quietly ate their cupcakes and watched me as I watched them :] They weren't exactly loving the whole "family picture" thing too much, but luckily, I'm sneaky and got some shots that I love regardless!

Thank you SO much to Carey and Bob for choosing me to capture your pictures! I had a lot of fun meeting you and your girls!! They are the sweetest little girls, who even though they were quiet, I secretly think they still liked me! hehe :]

This Country Boy will Survive

What a fun night! I went to the Fairbanks Farm for Joe's senior pics - which coincidentally happens to be the same place that all of my daytime job truckers try to deliver to! For some reason, they just happen to be the same street address, but on complete different sides of the freeway, dang GoogleMaps! Back to Joe...

Showing up at this gorgeous place, I had ideas immediately. The trees are stunning there. It literally was just valleys of red, orange, and yellow. Not to mention support! Joe had an entire audience with him! His grandparents, parents, and sister | not to mention the neighbors! His family is so great, and tons of fun :] We went everywhere in the woods, even in the swamps. Joe was a good sport, and didn't mind my crazy ideas. We took complete advantage of the company, storm damage, and the gorgeous view.

I did learn that he loves to golf, hunt, fish - anything outdoors. OH, and he's team Chevy! We got lots of shots with his truck, clubs, and land. We had lots of laughs and smiles! Did I mention I almost stole his dog? She is so cute - lab/retreiver mix and loves to cuddle, just like my dog! Luckily my sister-in-law wasn't there or she probably would have taken her! :] Just kidding Lori - well sort of.

After a perfect fall night at a beautiful spot, Joe had lots of senior pictures taken! They turned out great and I can't wait for you guys to see them, but here's a warning - there are a lot! Here's a little sample from the shoot! Thanks for the laughs Joe!

Wedded Bliss

After my morning family shoot, my mom and I headed down to Farmington for Karen and Dan's wedding. We were running a little bit late - which I still feel bad for, but we made it and got lots of pictures.

Started out at Rambling River Park in Farmington - had this gorgeous bridge that we got some wedding party (family members) pictures on! Karen and Dan have been together for years and I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Karen at my old job - It Figures! (fitness center) She has such a huge heart and it makes me smile to see just how happy Dan makes her!

They were married in the most unique place! I loved every detail about this place. Of course I can't remember the name, but I think it was the Grand Hall in Farmington. It had windows from the ceiling to the floor and so much character in the wood floor and brick windows. Great place to get married with family and friends watching!

Looking through the pictures, my heart literally melted because I captured some moments where Dan was looking at Karen when she wasn't paying attention - and you could just see how much he adored her. Make me overly anxious to show the pictures to the couple.

Before the dancing started, they had an "open mic" for whoever wanted to sing or play an instrument. Let me just say that there are so many talented people in that family!

Here is just a a itsy teeny weeny look at how the day unfolded. Congrats Karen and Dan!! We're so happy for you!

Messy Saturday

I met up with Kayla, Travis, Tristan, and Haley this morning for a family session at my Aunt-in-law's house! We couldn't have asked for a better day for our pictures. It was just a tad bit cloudy, but sunshine was on it's way! Lots of fun was in the making...

Dawnes house is a perfect spot for pictures! It has fields, barns, and even the occasional catapillar :] We got some family shots done first sitting by the barn (some of my faves!) Then the kids started to do their own thing, which ended up being perfect! I follwed with my camera and caught the expressions! Haley (age 1) started to discover the yard and then had a huge run-in with a large pile of dog crap.

After getting some great shots of the family and then individual shots of them all, it was time for treats!! I had come fully stocked with carmel apples on a stick! Some with peanuts.. some without. Have I mentioned how much I love messy kid faces? I love messy kid faces, they're so awesome! The expressions that kids have whether they like the treat or hate it ... is priceless.

Haley had just turned one and Tristan was turning 5 soon. I brought a cupcake and smash cake for both kids! Tristan wasn't too sure about the cupcake and Haley definitely didn't give 2 seconds of her attention to the smash cake - but smash it she did! With her face? No, with her cute little hiney! Not only did I manage to get her covered in carmel... I got her overalls full of frosting - sorry Kayla! :]

I got some great shots of Kayla and Travis, and both the kiddos - so just because I can ... here is just 1 teaser of this B-E-A-Utiful family :] More to come on my facebook page: Helena Lynne!!

1|2|3 ... and drop it

Tonight I spent the evening with some terrific ladies! We met up for Alyssa's Senior Pictures in Harris.

It honestly was such a great night and I had so much fun with you all! Alyssa brought her BFF and mom along for her final check over in the shots! They did a wonderful job making sure her hair was perfect and her clothes looked great!  :]

So we started out at my favorite barn (thanks for letting us use it Jerry!). I can't say enough how much I love that barn and background!! Never disappointed with how the pictures turn out :] Back to my gorgeous subject! We took some headshots up by the barn.  OF COURSE.. I got pictures with everyone all together, and I didn't pass up the opportunity to have some jumping pictures. Alyssa and her entourage were up for everything I threw at them!

Now, to start off with - the Schwabs are a wonderful family and remind me of my own! So, I was excited to be working with them :] I hadn't met Alyssa before, but she honestly has such a huge heart, hilarious personality, and a smile that makes you smile!

I thought it was so funny when the best friend duo showed me their "1,2,3 ... and drop it". LOVED that. Made me want to start showing them what me and my bestfriends do when we're together! A great team! After we hit up the barn, and then the railroad tracks (with Alyssa's dance costume!), we went to Fish Lake and had some amazing sunset shots by the water. I think one of my favorite pictures was taken there! I have a ton of shots, but decided only to show 1! SOOO.... here's a little look at my Friday evening shoot for Alyssa's Senior Pictures! Drop it girl!

Mr. Cool

Tonight I got to hang out with Shelley, Tyler, and Peyton. I'm not sure I'm spelling her name right, so I apologize if it's wrong!

We met up in Harris at my favorite barn for some senior pictures! Now Tyler will probably agree with me that I took A LOT of pictures. :] Plenty for him to choose from right? We started out with some shots by the barn with an ABSOLUTELY gorgeous fall tree in the background!

Even though Tyler just slighly was showing his real smile - we were able to get the real one out for some pictures! It helped that Shelley, Peyton, and I were all posing how we wanted him to. "Just go like this, and then bend down" haha. As always, I got a picture with everyone that came to the shoot! Mom with her kiddos! :] Even some solo shots of Miss. Peyton!

I kept saying "do this, and just.... be cool" and he was! :] You guys are a great family and fun to hang out with! Good luck Shelley with finding the perfect purse!! ;] I'll have to start keeping up with you if my husband lets me!
Tyler, good luck to you in your future!! I can't wait to see your art work, you're going to be famous I bet! Follow your dream :] Have a wonderful rest of your senior year! Here's your look!

Risky Business

Tonight I met up with Danielle and her family. We took some great Senior shots over in Osceola. Couldn't have asked for an absolutely perfect night with some fun people. The weather wasn't too hot.. and it wasn't too cold - just perfect!

Now I've never been to Osceola before, but I am definitely going back. It is SO cute in that town. It reminds me of how North Branch used to be before it went crazy and started throwing up mini malls and department stores. Quaint and cute | that's how I'll describe it! :] Danielle and her parents were such great company! Relaxed and up for anything and everything! We hiked, we laughed, and we saw gorgeous spots throughout Osceola. A great Monday evening.

On days like today, I'm glad that I decided to wear tennis shoes instead of my usual flip flops. I didn't count, but I'm guessing we went down and up about 100+ steps - not something I would have liked doing in flip flops! Even though I was exhausted just going down the stairs, it was SO worth it once we got to the bottom. There was a gorgeous waterfall! We got some great shots of Danielle almost everywhere! EVEN ending our shoot with her under the waterfall :] I had only hoped she'd be willing to go in the water and when I mentioned it she was all for it! {thank you} for really being up for anything! Even if it meant getting completely soaked with not a single towel for your ride home!

VERY excited for everyone to see the rest of the pictures, so be sure to check out my facebook @ Helena Lynne! Here is just a look at the stunning Miss. Danielle's senior pictures! Until next time, here's your look Danielle!

Royal Sweetheart

I had the pleasure of taking Miss Kallie Grote's senior pictures tonight! She is SUCH a sweetheart!

Kallie, Madame Grote {my High School French Teacher!}, and I met up at Fish Lake to take some gorgeous shots down by the lake. While waiting for them to show up, I came across a smooching couple! I felt a little awkward and kind of little paparazzi-ish. I decided to pretend I didn't see them rolling around in the grass next to me. Back on the subject - Kallie!

I met Kallie a few months ago when I was taking pictures for the Midsummer Candidates. She literally has a contagious smile and I found myself smiling behind the camera as well! She went on to winning one of the three spots for our Midsummer Princesses! So, not only is she a sweetheart - she's royalty!

While walking out to the docks for pictures, we noticed that our spot had been taken over by a man with his dog. We decided to wait and take some shots elsewhere until he left, but he still wasn't gone by the time we started heading over to the dock. He ended up being an extremely nice guy who didn't mind picking up his stuff and moving just for a few minutes. We were able to get some great pictures with Kallie on the dock and in the water!  So.. thank you stranger for being understanding and letting us boot you from your spot!

I felt pretty good about how the pictures were turning out, so we picked up and headed to the next spot - my favorite barn in Harris. Madame Grote had no idea, that when you come to a shoot with me, you'll most likely end up in pictures! I did something a little different, I had both of them draw their face on the chalk board and hold it up. You'll see what I mean in the preview below :] I got some timeless pictures of the mother|daughter duo! I never noticed just how identical you two were until these pictures!

Now, even though Kallie is royal and she's gorgeous.. she's also a all-star! She wanted some pictures in the high school gym with the basketball hoops. Let me just say how crazy it is to be back in the halls of high school! Apparently over the last few years.. a lot has changed! Back on track... I got some great pictures in the gym and am excited for you guys to see them!

If you haven't met Madame Grote or Miss Kallie - I highly suggest it. Both are so kind, funny, and gorgeous - Thanks guy for a super fun night!! C'est la Vie!

Meet the Minick's!

Two of my amazing friends were married this weekend on 9-10-11!

Jen and Nate (Natedog) are two of the most generous and kind friends I have. When things are tough for anyone, they're there to help in any way that they can. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have ever done for me and my family! They are absolutely perfect for each other and I couldn't be happier or more blessed to have been a part of their big day.
Tressa again was the lead photographer and I just helped out when I could :] I tried to cut back on time by doing shots of details and Jen before Tressa got there so everything could go quicker and smoother for her. First off, Jen was stunning. The dress, the hair, the mood; just breathtaking! Second, it was an absolutely gorgeous day.
The ceremony was emotional, as every wedding I've ever been to is, but there's something about friends' weddings that get me more tearful than others - maybe it's the history I know or even just to see my friends in setting that I know how it feels? Either way, I had a lump in my throat almost the entire ceremony. Well, until I got a glimpse of the flower girl flashing the entire church. H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S! Krystal, thank you for her. Jen's niece was rolling around alter lifting her legs above her head and showing her undies to the congregation. It was such an unforgettable moment.
One part of the entire day that I will never forget is the Maid of Honor speech. Lori, it was beautiful and touching in so many ways. I was in tears the entire time, and word for word what you said describes just what a beautiful person Jen is.
Cheers to many years you two lovebirds! I love you guys!

Falling in Taylors Falls

Yesterday late afternoon {Wednesday} Ariana, Christina (mom), and I met up for some Senior Pictures! Couldn't have been any more gorgeous or perfect for an outdoor shoot. The sun was shining, the weather was warm, and the company was great.

I'm glad that I decided to wear my tennis shoes because we were in for a hike! Now, I'm always up for anything on a shoot, but I think I should have previously worked out before this one because it kicked my butt! We jumped on the first trail to head down a windy path with breathtaking views. Through the field and right next to highway 8 we started.

I would say we took advantage of every situation - from climbing down rocks to get some shots by the rock walls to climbing to new heights to reach an old rock building (which was totally worth it). Ariana has the sweetest personality and best style, I wanted to steal all of her clothes and bring them home with me, and my sister would kill for her shoes! Just a stunning senior!

After we climbed what seemed a good half hour (literally maybe 10 minutes) we reached this rock building that had a fireplace in it. Don't ask why it was just in the middle of the woods because I have no answer, but I sure am glad that it was there! We snapped some shots in, around, and even on top of! Sidenote: thanks Christina for the boost! The roof of the building was old wood shingles and was awesome - even though it was extremely hard covering the sunlight on her face, I did it! My abs are yelling at me today, but, again the pictures turned out just how I wanted them to!

On our way back to the car, which honestly still cracks me up, I wanted to take some last shots in the weeds. On my way to the perfect spot... I stepped in what was either dog or horse crap! Well, I didn't just step in it, I totally biffed it! Landing straight on my butt in front of Christina and Ariana AND a car full of people. Well then I laughed it off and told Ariana to be careful that there was crap there! Then she was walking on the pavement and then slipped off the side and wiped out, thank goodness she didn't roll an ankle! So, we fell... in Taylors Falls and laughed it off. (Totally forgot until now, I still have crap on my shoes at home... dang it!)

So here is just a little look at the gorgeous Senior from my Wednesday afternoon session! Thanks again Ariana and good luck with the rest of your senior year! I'll say it again... soak it all in because it goes by fast!

Cousins Rock!

Labor Day 2011 .. I was able to spend the afternoon with my three cousins : Casandra, Caitlin, and Jennifer. Casandra is a Senior, and I was doing her senior pictures! Jennifer is Casandra's mom (my cousin) and Caitlin came along to help me out and hang out! Casandra chose the spot Stone Arch Bridge - AWESOME place! I felt like an idiot that I've driven by it over 100 times and never even stopped to notice just how gorgeous it is. We know that won't be happening again!
Jennifer reminiced about when she spent her High School years hanging out there... and as she ran into an old friend from HS, we decided to move on and start some pictures :] There were so many different awesome and amazing backgrounds for shots... we disappeared for quite some time! Jennifer couldn't find us for a good 45 minutes -- oops :]

Our first spot,  we're pretty sure someone was living under the steps. There was a blanket, sandwhich, and beer. I guess the 3 more necessary ingredients, hah.

We followed the trail leading us to small parts of the Mississippi - got some great shots! We even went in the water and then quickly out because the water was getting higher and higher within minutes of us standing there! Needless to say - we were in, out, and on our way on dry land.

Have I even mentioned just how gorgeous Casandra is? She's stunning! Needs to be modeling (hint hint Jenny).

After a couple of hours around the Stone Arch Bridge, we called it good and headed back towards the car. It definitely was a fun way to spend Labor Day! As always, here is a tiny look at just what we found along the Mississippi!

Baby Blue Babies

{thank you} Betsy for letting me run around on an adventure with your handsome little men!

Today was an absolutely gorgeous day! The sun was shining and it wasn't too hot :] Betsy brought Parker and Preston out to Franconia Sculpture Garden to have an adventure with me! If you haven't been to Franconia, I recommend it - it most definitely is a sight to see! It's filled with a ton of different sculptures that are built from every day things, it's crazy how cool it is. I'm not sure exactly where some of these people come up with the ideas, but as a photographer - I'm glad they do, because it's so much fun for pictures.

I came packed full of snacks, games, and camera space.

While Preston finished his nap in the car with his aunt | Betsy {mom}, Parker, and I headed off to a wall {fence} made out of trees. |sidenote| SUCH a cool background if you're looking to take some pictures :] Back on track.. we started out playing with bubbles! With Parker being only 2, he is one of the most polite little boys I've ever met, oh, did I mention that his eyes are unbelievable? Literally when I say ice blue... it doesn't even begin to describe how amazing they are! Geez, back on track, yet again. So, we were playing with bubbles and Parker got a little too close with his mouth and his face was just priceless! Still makes me smile thinking about the cute crunched face he made!!

We decided that we were going to start our journey around the garden after that, we came to what would resemble a play ground {swings, slides, tunnels}. Our only problem seemed to be that there was a music video going on! Parker didn't mind and still checked out the spot, ehh, he decided after 1 time around that we were ready for the next spot. By this time, brother Preston joined us! Man, can he crawl!! It was tough to keep up with him! When he's on a missing {just like his big brother} he gets there! Oh, again, I forgot to mention how gorgeous his eyes are - you seriously get lost in them! Unreal!!

So it was Betsy, Parker, Preston, and I - our next spot was a hanging house. At first we decided it was scary, then figured it was okay because someone put it that way. We got some great shots of mom and her boys on our garden adventure! It was time to head back through the wooden tunnel to our starting location. We were going to meet baby cousin Claire back there.

Once getting back to our {fence}, we took some posed shots of the cousins, aunties, and uncle and then since the boys were so good, they got cupcakes! The boys stripped down to their undies and the frosting was on their tongues in record time. Preston was digging in and managed to get frosting everywhere :] He had it on his legs, diaper, eye lashes, nose, you name it - it was there! Along with the frosting was dirt and grass - tooo cute for words though. Parker on the other hand was very neat about his frosting! He licked every single finger after getting some on it. Preston wanted more though, so Parker shared some with his baby brother {he's such a good sharer}. He got frosting on his nose and it was giggle city after that!

SUCH a wonderful wonderful day with some amazing people! Pretty sure that my heart melted even more at the end of the shoot when Parker gave me a hug. AH I love my job! Families like yours make my job SO rewarding, so thank you Betsy!

Country Lovin'

What an amazing day! My feet hurt, my hand stings, and it was so worth it!

Today, I was honored to take pictures at Serina and Mike's wedding; along with my bff Tressa by my side. I honestly can't even pick out what my favorite part of the day was because everything went absolutely perfect and there were so many fun surprises throughout the day :]

We started the day off with a "typical" coffee house run :] Smoothies and bagels while finishing up our last minute details and last preparations before the big day was going to begin. Once arriving to the stunning Bruentrup Heritage Farm in Maplewood, the location was set up and just breathtaking - old barns, outdoor ceremony set up, and fields surrounding everything. A picture perfect scene {in my mind}. The bride {Serina} was absolutely gorgeous, as always :] and Mike was handsome and super nervous, but hey.. who wouldn't be!

I have to say - the unveiling of the bride to her groom was such an unforgettable moment. {Thank you} Serina and Mike for allowing us to share such an intimate moment with the both of you. I had a lump in my throat the entire time and could have started bawling at any time! Good thing I didn't' because I would have been a huge mess and the ceremony didn't even start yet! The pictures went just as scheduled and the wedding party couldn't have been better to work with - such great friends you all have. I'm a huge country fan, and I LOVE that the theme was country. Cowgirl boots with the bridesmaid dresses and flower girls was awesome - SO cute! Also made for some pretty awesome pictures!

Ceremony went wonderful! Serina had the most unique ideas, and I only wished that I could have stole some of them for myself - too late on my end! From a sign that read "Here comes the Bride" to the centerpieces, and her "I'm his MRS. and I'm her MR." I just loved everything about it! The weather was perfect, the company was great, and the emotions were running high! Amazing couple that deserved a dream wedding - and it was perfection at its best!

Lots of laughs and smiles were had by all! Even my face hurts because I smiled the entire day even behind the camera :]

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that helped Tressa and I today, and to Serina and Mike for choosing us for their big day! Congratulations you two; may you have a long happy life together! PS. Sorry Mike for spilling your beer, totally forgot to get you another one - dang it!

Let's give this a shot...

Hi all :]

Not sure about this "blogging" ordeal, but I'm going to give it a try! I want to give a shoutout to all my wonderful clients that have been keeping me busy over the last few weeks to months and even back to last year! Honestly, from the bottom of my heart | I {love} to meet you all and get to know you over the time of our shoot! Not to mention watch the growth of your families, beautiful weddings, and of course witness events and memories that you cherish. I know how important every day is, so {thank you} for including me to be part of it.

I guess my way of using this blog is to describe my shoots with some pretty unbelievable people - of course my teasers will be included on here, can't miss out on those! I just feel like the amazing people that I meet deserve to get some recognition for just how awesome they are!

On a sidenote, every single shoot I do has it's memorable and super funny moments! I'll just say this.. at my last shoot {sorry Stella, you're going to hate me when you're older!} I had a little lady who was very persistant with stripping down to nothing in the water at a park! Check back for that story in a few days :] This weekend is full of fun families and a beautiful outdoor wedding! Camera in hand, I'm off to the outdoors for a fun night of "sign language" shooting! Have a wonderful night everyone!

I'll end with one of my favorite quotes..
"A good snapshot stops a moment from running away." Eudora Welty

{thanks for listening!}

Meet the Tacheny's!

I couldn't be more excited about how my family is expanding! Today, we welcomed in a new sister on my husband’s side of the family. It was an amazing day - Nick's twin brother Nate married the girl of his dreams, Lori.
My best friend Tressa was the lead photographer, but I helped her out with some pictures before the ceremony. It's a lot of work being on both sides of the camera and in front of the camera, but we made it work {thank you Tre!}.
The day was raining off and on, but it didn't stop Nate and Lori from an unforgettable wedding. Our day started with mimosas and getting ready. The detail shots are always nice to take right away when the bride and groom aren't going to notice them missing {rings, shoes, locations, etc}. Once the posed shots started, it was a little hectic, but again what wedding isn't hectic and chaotic during the set picture time?
Usually Nate is pretty laid back and doesn't get too nervous, but taking his "before" pictures was unforgettable. He was sweaty, nervous, and excited - something that I didn't expect to see from him. I guess I thought he would be calm and collected, but I was completely surprised. Once all of the groomsmen came into the shots, the pictures started to get crazy! After my wedding, I guess since it was the same group of guys, I knew what crazies I was dealing with ;] It didn't surprise me when they decided to start climbing the silos. Let's just say that the pictures speak for how fun these guys are and what an amazing day it honestly was.
Surrounded by family and friends, the two became one. My little sister sang during the ceremony I'll Stand By You, and it was beautiful. Yet another reason to reel me into tears during the ceremony.
Congratulations Nate and Lori! I love you guys and couldn't be more excited for your long happy life together.
